BT Redcare: The Vital Link

Secondly, the faster the fire service can reach your building, the more quickly a fire can be extinguished. This is where BT Redcare Fire comes in. It’s a service that connects your fire alarm system directly to the emergency services.
The fastest call
Traditionally, somebody would have to call the fire brigade on hearing an alarm go off. But as you can imagine, that’s not the best option, as the response time is uncontrolled and could be very high. Having your fire alarm automatically call the fire brigade used to be the reserve of huge corporate organisations like large factories and banks, but this is no longer the case.
With BT Redcare, you don’t have to wait for someone to call. In our opinion, it’s the best and fastest option. Here’s why:
The BT Redcare Fire service automatically contacts the fire brigade in the event of a fire.
It can use a land-line, mobile phones or the internet (or a combination of these). This means that there are options in case one of the lines fails.
The signal goes to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), which then contacts the fire brigade immediately (we work with Southern Monitoring Services).
BT Redcare is unique because it monitors your line to the ARC. Similar systems don’t do this, meaning your connection to the ARC could be dropped for a long period of time without anyone knowing or repairing it.
You get to choose the protocols. The ARC can call you, the fire brigade, the maintenance company, a key-holding response service, or a mixture of them. Whichever suits you best.
We are finding that insurance companies require increasingly higher standards of fire safety, which is no bad thing! The more protective measures that you as a property owner put in place, the safer your building is likely to be in event of a fire.
