Fire Safety Training for Youth in Plymouth

The Argos Fire Protection team recently provided a group of unemployed youth with valuable fire safety training. We joined up with the University Partnerships Programme and The Prince’s Trust as part of an initiative to equip young people from the Devon area with vocational skills.

New Skills

Fire safety is a key consideration in every workplace; it’s important that employees have a basic fire safety knowledge, alongside specialised fire marshals that can assist in event of a fire. The young people who participated gained new skills and qualification that can be included in their CV and will make them an asset to prospective employers.

The training day was held at the University of Plymouth, where Argos Fire provided the delegates on the course with fire safety awareness training, including training on the safe selection and use of fire extinguishers, the action to take in the event of a fire, and guidance on general fire precautions including the principles of good housekeeping.

At the end of the session, our Managing Director Des McCartan-Mooney and Operations Manager Trevor Hill presented awards to the participants.

We were delighted to be involved in the work of The Prince’s Trust, who make a huge impact on youth throughout the UK. In recent years, more than three quarters of the young people helped by the Prince’s Trust moved into work, education or training, so to be part of this effort to impact our community is a great privilege.

Train Your Team

Our team also provide basic fire safety awareness training for staff teams, tailored to an organisation’s specific requirements. When a whole team is mindful of fire prevention issues, a workplace becomes much safer. On top of this, we have a one-day course specifically designed to equip fire marshals, which we schedule regularly in locations throughout the South West.

Team size, location and property are key ingredients to considering what fire safety training your employees need; we are happy to discuss your options with you, simply contact us.
